Through the Christ the Teacher Institute and on an individual basis, the Sheil Catholic Center Education Committee sponsors or co-sponsors seminars, discussions and lectures on a wide range of topics — including to spiritual life, global and personal morality, theological discovery and the Catholic imagination.

In 2009-2010, events included:

• Field trip to the newly opened Illinois Holocaust Memorial Museum and a talk from its Assistant Director of Education
• Co-sponsored discussion on Darwin with Templeton Prize winner Francisco Ayala
• Presentation by Northwestern University president Morton Schapiro on the place of faith in the university
• Our own Fr. John Kartje’s popular talk on “Faith and Science”
