One of Sheil's newest service opportunities is providing youth mentoring for youth at the Howard Area Community Center in Rogers Park.
Rogers Park is a diverse community in Chicago, just south of Evanston. Most of the children in the area of Howard Street live at or below the Federal Poverty Level, and are in great need of support.
Volunteer opportunities exist to tutor and/or mentor at-risk children in after-school programs, or serve as a classroom assistant, workshop leader/assistant, mock interviewer or computer clubhouse assistant. You could also host a student at Northwestern for a half day. Help is needed afternoons, Monday through Friday. The program is located near an “L” stop in the Roger’s Park community.
